Michael P. Krupa, Ed. D.
Michael P. Krupa has held CEO and COO positions for not-for-profit and for-profit health care institutions, and has managed and consulted to psychiatric departments in 30+ hospitals and clinical sites. Dr. Krupa earned his doctorate from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and is a licensed psychologist with 25+ years of clinical and administrative experience. Dr. Krupa held an appointment at Harvard Medical School as a clinical supervisor of psychology and psychiatry trainees for ten years. Dr. Krupa founded Health Partners New England and Health Partners Technology with a commitment to provide expert, compassionate treatment of patients and their families, respectful colleagueship with employees, and fiscal accountability to provider institutions and funding entities.
Michael P. Connelly, CPA, MBA
Michael P. Connelly, CPA, MBA, is President and CEO of ProviderLogic, Inc. He has over 17 years of senior financial management and operations experience with community hospitals, academic medical centers, community health centers and physician practices.
A graduate of Bentley College and a certified public accountant, Mr. Connelly is well-known and respected for his financial turnaround experience and his ability to translate complex financial data into meaningful and actionable data for non-financial leaders. He specializes in working with distressed and/or underperforming provider organizations.
Most recently, he served as the interim CFO for a 140 bed psychiatric hospital where he oversaw significant restructuring efforts leading to a $7 million operating margin improvement. In addition, he helped to improve the operating margin of an academic medical center's psychiatric department by over $2 million.
Mr. Connelly currently serves as the President of the Massachusetts/Rhode Island Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He has taught courses in healthcare finance and accounting at Boston University and Simmons College. Previously, he served as a board member and treasurer of Bridgewell, Inc., a non-profit human service agency located in Lynnfield, Massachusetts.
Gail Hanson-Mayer, RN, CS, MPH
Gail Hanson-Mayer has extensive experience in the management of inpatient psychiatric services including unit operations, clinical issues, staff supervision and unit safety. She has been a consulting nurse to Health Partners New England for 10 years. Gail has 25 years of experience, including senior management positions with national and local companies that provide behavioral health management and consultation services to hospitals, managed care companies, behavioral health networks and state systems of care.
Gail has consulted to the States of Hawaii, Washington and Vermont regarding their provision of Adult Mental Health Services. She has also provided consultation in the areas of psychiatric, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders program development, licensing and accreditation preparedness and review, contracting, credentialing and financial management, and the development of integrated systems of care. Gail continues to provide direct care to adolescents and adults in an outpatient group practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority.
Edie Barrett, MS, RN, CS
Edie Barrett is a JCAHO Behavioral Health and Hospital program trainer surveyor, and part-time faculty for the School of Nursing, University of Massachusetts. Ms. Barrett has broad expertise in administrative, clinical and teaching and provides leadership experience, knowledge of quality improvement, program planning and evaluation, JCAHO standards and preparation. Ms. Barrett was a member of the 1996 congress on advanced practice at American Psychiatric Nursing Association and plays an active role in state and national nursing organizations.
David Osser, MD
Dr. Osser is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is also Attending Psychiatrist, Associate Medical Director, and Director of Academic Affairs at Taunton State Hospital. At the Brockton (MA) Veterans Affairs Hospital, he is the Psychiatrist for the Domiciliary Residential Treatment Program and Curriculum Coordinator for Psychopharmacology in the Harvard South Shore Psychiatry Residency Training Program. His main academic interest is in the development of decision-support tools that employ evidence-based reasoning, for use in the clinical practice of psychopharmacology. He is an author of over 80 academic products, including journal articles, software, monographs, book chapters, and abstracts. He has received nine awards for outstanding teaching, and two awards from the Alliance for the Mentally Ill for his dedication and service to the severely mentally ill and their families.
Dr. Osser is on the editorial boards of the International Drug Therapy Newsletter, Psychiatric Times, and the Model Curriculum for Psychopharmacology of the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology.
William Wheeler, MBA, BESLER Consulting
William Wheeler is the Director of BESLER Consulting’s, Boston office. Mr. Wheeler has extensive experience in all aspects of Medicare reimbursement. Prior to joining BESLER Consulting, he worked at the Medicare Fiscal Intermediary in Massachusetts, for 30 years, most recently as Manager of the Medicare Audit and Reimbursement Department at Anthem Blue Cross. Mr. Wheeler was responsible for a myriad of audit and reimbursement functions including provider appeals, rate setting, internal quality review, provider-based designations, staff training and liaison to the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on policy issues.
Susan Coughlin, Practice Manager
Susan supports all HPNE consultation, interim management and long-term management contracting work out of our Winchester office. Susan is responsible for all document production, scheduling, HPNE billing, and operational reports for all sites and projects. Prior to joining HPNE Susan held positions as the Intake Coordinator for the Child Protection Team at Childrens Hospital and as the discharge coordinator for a secure inpatient child psychiatric unit. Susan also participated in quality improvement and assurance programs for each program.
